Where young minds grow, confidence flourishes, and futures are built on a firm foundation.

In the Secondary School at DCC, we aim to foster passionate learners who understand and take responsibility for their God-given potential as they develop academic faithfulness. We create engaging, immersive and meaningful learning experiences that focus on student growth and progress, and prioritise inclusivity, relationship and collaboration.

Our teaching philosophy is informed by the latest evidence-based practices, and is an optimistic, faith-based and hope-filled view of learning designed to optimise whole child development. Our academic program is diverse and seeks to meet the needs and potential of all our learners, enabling them to explore and develop their unique capabilities, intelligences, personalities and strengths.

Our teachers diversify their teaching practices to take into account the individual learning needs of their students, recognising that each student has different learning strengths. They tailor their teaching programs to support students to progress in their knowledge and skill development, exercise agency over their learning and cultivate positive dispositions toward learning.

We encourage our students to recognise that all their experiences at school are learning experiences, whether they occur in the more formal classroom setting, in our year level, pastoral care, wellbeing, future pathways and camps programs, or as part of our enrichment and extension program, Impact Learning.

The heart of our Impact Learning program is a bespoke Impact Experiences Portal which enables students and their parents to view all the clubs, competitions, events and activities available to students in one place, and to tailor their own enrichment schedule, further giving them the opportunity to exercise agency and develop their individual talents and gifts.

Our desire is for our students to 'own' their learning journey in Secondary and to that end, we teach them the fundamental skills of how to be a great learner through our unique Jumpstart Learning Program, which is currently being rolled out across the Secondary school. This program seeks to foster thoughtful, independent, self-regulated learners who know how to learn well, know what to do when learning becomes challenging, and take responsibility for their learning.

Our teachers encourage our students to think critically, to be curious, to ask questions and wrestle with complexity, and to be courageous learners who are risk-takers, change-makers and culture creators, engaging deeply with their faith in all aspects of their education.

The world is changing at a rapid pace and as the landscape of learning continues to evolve, so do we, ensuring that our students’ experience of school is relevant, engaging, purposeful and God-honouring.
