From the moment a child takes their first steps into a Primary year, a dynamic partnership unfolds between their parents and the school, where Christ is central to learning and Christian community is cherished.
The Primary years provide a wonderful foundation for life-long learning. Capturing the wonder, the curiosity and the excitement of young learners, our classrooms are engaging places where young minds are enriched, skills are developed and where relationships can flourish. In every classroom, students are taught by passionate Christian educators who are committed to educating the whole child – meeting them at their individual point of need and providing a variety of opportunities for every student to grow in wisdom and understanding.
With an emphasis on explicit instruction in literacy and numeracy, we cater for each child through small group and targeted teaching. Our LEM phonics program teaches the fundamentals of sounds, spelling, writing and reading in a multi-sensory approach. With the use of hands-on activities, mathematical concepts are taught and built upon over the primary years.
Questions and wonderings open a world of learning and skill development as our students engage in rich inquiry learning experiences. With a focus on empowering student voice, ownership of learning and taking action, the inquiry process allows students and staff to discover more about God’s world, the people in it and their place in His story.
Weekly, students participate in specialist subjects which provide breadth and depth to learning. Music, physical education, visual arts, language learning and time spent in our dedicated Science classroom are valuable experiences which develop passion and talents.
Our integrated approach to wellbeing provides students and staff with language and tools to see our community flourish in all aspects of life and learning. As relational beings, we understand that this is best taught within the context of the classroom as students develop positive friendships with others and a resilience that helps them navigate life’s challenges. Our wellbeing program is strengthened as students are provided opportunities to lead and serve our community, with Year 5 Buddies being a highlight that connects students across the primary years.
By partnering with our parents, the Primary School is a place where students can truly thrive, developing character and independence as we prepare them for learning in Secondary School and a life of service in their future years.
