Surrounded by student artwork, and welcomed by Primary musical performers - it was a warm atmosphere as we gathered in our brand new performance space to dedicate and officially open the Community Hub.

In front of her commissioned painting, which will hang in the Hub foyer, artist and proud Wuthathi and Mabuiag Island (Torres Strait) woman, Safina Stewart, led those gathered in an Acknowledgement of Country to open our time together. Later she shared with us the meaning of her artwork, which describes the redemptive power of God over the 'dry places' in our lives, and encouraged all present to lean into that relationship with God.

Executive Principal, Tim Argall was unable to join us due to COVID, instead greeting us over video. Thanking God for this building, Tim recognised that we have been blessed along every step of its development with vision, skilled craftsmen, resources, and the determination to work through the adversity of a global pandemic. He also thanked those key individuals who contributed to the development of the Hub and made the successful completion of this remarkable facility possible.

Board Chair, Tony Sinn; Former Principal, Yvonne Bradley; and Former Board Member Lois Craig each shared their unique perspectives on the College, and what this new building might mean for us, before they unveiled the plaque and officially opened the Community Hub.

This event was more than just an opening though, it was a dedication. So we were blessed to have the Senior Worship Band, with three Primary singers, lead us in song. So too were we blessed to have Viv Stapleton dedicate the building with a reflection on the verse that has been emblazoned on the side of the building,

For in him we live, and move, and have our being. Acts 17:28

And for our College Captains to lead us in in Bible reading and prayer.

The Hub will provide a wonderful facility for our community, and beyond. With a 700-seat performance space, double basketball courts, large open foyer for hosting events, and training and weights rooms, the Hub is a fantastic addition to our college facilities.
