Every year a major School Production takes place in Semester One. We produce a Secondary School Musical for students in years 8 to 12, and a Senior Play for older students, in alternating years. Our productions have a reputation of always being of a high standard and thoroughly enjoyable for cast and audience alike.
Our school productions aim to bring out the very best in the students, who rehearse the play over time and then perform in a professional theatre. Students participate as actors, singers, dancers, in the orchestra or in the backstage crew, so there’s always somewhere to get involved. The Production is a chance to showcase the talents of our students and see them in a whole new light. Whether it’s a light-hearted comedy or a more dramatic presentation, our shows are always a highlight of the school calendar and a hit with families and the community.
The Importance of Being Earnest
Thank you to everyone who helped out with the The Importance of Being Earnest. The show could not have been possible without the support of the Donvale school community and the staff and management within the college. Thank you to the parents of the cast for getting your children to rehearsals as well as helping to source costumes and providing food for our many rehearsals.
To the production team made up of our wonderful DCC staff; Kathryn, Graham, Lesley and Lisa; I say thank you for all the time you put in to making this show a reality. You each led your area of the show well and each part worked together so well to make the whole.
Thank you to the wonderful Maintenance team at Donvale for all your help constructing and assembling our set as well as coming back in on Saturday night to pull it all down. We definitely couldn’t do a production without your help and willingness to bring our vision into reality. Thank you to Matt, Sam & Dan for collecting and delivering sets and props and for making sure things were easy for us in the theatre! Thank you also to our backstage team of current students who helped to set the scene every night and oversaw the production from behind the wings.
And finally, to the amazing Earnest cast. Our smallest yet! The nine of you worked so hard and put in so much effort to make this show what it was. You should be very proud! You each imagined unique creations of Wilde’s characters and held your own on that stage. I’m very proud of each and every one of you and it was a pleasure directing and working alongside you during this adventure. I hope to see you all treading the boards again soon!
Thank you to our audiences, made up of DCC friends and families, for coming along and supporting another one of our productions. We love being able to bring these stories to life and you help us by coming along and enjoying what we do.
Thank you. We’ll see you again next time!
