Why do we need FOD?
Friends of Donvale Inc is the community / fundraising arm of Donvale Christian College. In the past we were required to have an independent organisation to deal with fundraising due to restriction to our funding. As a result FOD was created and although those requirements are no longer needed we have maintained the identity of FOD.

Who is responsible for FOD?
FOD is an Incorporated Association which has been set up by the Association which governs our College (Association for Christian Education of Box Hill). Although it is an independent Association it has input from the College Board of Directors through regular communication and the presence of one the College Board members on the committee of FOD. It also operates subject to the policies of the Board of Directors of the Association for Christian Education of Box Hill.

Who are members of FOD?
All parents of students currently studying at Donvale Christian College and all staff employed by the College are members of FOD. Other people are able to become associate members if they accept and support both the Statement of Purposes of Friends of Donvale and adopt the Statement of Biblical Principles of the Association in writing.

How is FOD managed?
Friends of Donvale is managed by a voluntary Committee of Management which consists of the following: a Board Representative, the Donvale Christian College General Manager of Finance and Operations plus a minimum of six (6) others who will be elected by the members of Friends of Donvale.
The Committee is elected at the AGM of FOD usually held during term 1 each year.
This Committee is responsible for overseeing all the activities that are undertaken by FOD. Each area of activities has one committee member whose responsibility is to oversee those activities. We call these group Co-ordinators and they will have a group of people under them who actually organise each activity.

How can I be involved in FOD?
FOD needs volunteers at various levels to achieve the smooth running of FOD and all it tries to achieve. This can be from helping out with an activity, organising an activity or becoming a member of the Committee.
If you wish to become involved with FOD at any level, please call one of the committee members or fill in the attached printable form.

What are some of the activites of FOD?
FOD tries to enhance both the fundraising aspect of the school and the sense of community in the school. With this in mind the following activities are undertaken.
The Canteen and Uniform Shop and the sale of Second Hand Secondary Books. These activities are primarily fundraising in nature as well as providing a service to the school.
Other Fundraising activities include some regular ones such as school photos, Fathers/Mothers Day stall for Primary as well as other fundraisers as decided.
To encourage a sense of community we organise morning teas and other opportunities for the school community to get together. In the past these have taken the form of a BBQ or other social gatherings.
We also encourage the prayer groups which operate twice a week and the disability support group which helps to care for families associated with the College who have contact with someone with a disability.

What does FOD do with any money raised?
FOD uses any money raised to go back into our College. Some of the past contributions are:

  • Blinds in Gym
  • Evaporative Coolers in some classes
  • Extra sports equipment
