English Position
The College has a vacancy for an English teacher in 2010.
The English department has the reputation for being a highly creative and successful faculty. The department requires a person who is committed to teaching, loves learning, enjoys the company of adolescents, thrives when working in a team environment and is keen to work on developing a thinking curriculum within a technology-rich Christian school.
Practising Christians, supportive of the College's approach to Christian Education are encouraged to apply.
The position will require the teaching of English, preferably from Years 7 to 12. Another teaching method would be desirable.
Specific Skills and Qualities:
1. An ability to teach as part of a team, at all levels of English Years 7 to 12.
2. An understanding of current curriculum practice in English education at secondary level.
3. An ability to design appropriate learning activities and assessment tasks at Years 7 to 12.
4. An interest in working with students of varying ability levels.
5. An understanding of the learning technologies available within a laptop environment to enhance student learning in English.
6. Familiarity with the VCAA requirements in English at the VCE level.
7. A willingness to participate in professional development activities, and to share skills with others in your team.
8. A willingness to work with others within the faculty at developing Christian perspectives within the curriculum.
9. A willingness to participate in the pastoral care program of the college which includes being a Homegroup teacher and leading the group in a daily devotion.
