Family Working Bees
Each DCC family is required to complete 8 hours of working bee for the year. (That means that if two people from your family attend, you need only stay for 4 hours.) Families are asked to attend according to the year level of their youngest child. The working bees are scheduled each month and are a great opportunity to meet other families. Our Grounds & Maintenance staff do a wonderful job in providing a safe and pleasant working environment for our students. This is your opportunity to get alongside them and give some practical assistance.
On completion of your working bee commitment for 2017 you will receive a $298.50 credit to your fee account.
We would ask parents to please enter via gate 1 and park on the Year 9 basketball court and proceed to the Maintenance shed (please follow the signs) for a short Worksafe Induction by the maintenance staff at 8:30 am.
Please note that you MUST register your intention to attend with the main admin office. Only families who have registered will be permitted to participate. The supervisors for the day will have an 'Attendance Record Book' that you MUST SIGN for each session attended.
In the case of inclement weather it is at the discretion of the working bee supervisor if the day is to be cancelled. In the case of hot weather or sustained rain, thunderstorms or hail the day will immediately be cancelled. We will endeavour to contact you prior to the working bee via email if the day is to be cancelled.
Also Students in Year 9 or above are welcome to assist their families, but they must be willing and capable to complete the tasks set for them. Younger students may attend providing they are supervised, however their presence does not contribute to the 8 hours. All students attending working bees must have parental supervision.
All workers must wear closed toe shoes and garden gloves. You may also wish to bring a hat, sunglasses or rain coat depending on the weather.
Working bee times are:
Morning 8.30 am – 12.30 pm
Afternoon 1.00 pm – 5.00 pm
* Half-days are mornings only
Your date will be the year level of your youngest child.
(If you are not available for this date please register another suitable date.)
